Data Deletion Policy

Last updated: 4 October, 2026

1. About this Policy

This Data Deletion Policy ("Policy") explains how you can delete your Sociocrush account, disconnect social-media accounts, delete specific content, and request deletion of personal data that Sociocrush holds about you. It also explains what happens after a deletion request, how long it takes, what we may lawfully keep and why, and what to do if you are not satisfied with our response. It applies to account holders, Workspace members, invited clients, and anyone whose personal data is processed through Sociocrush, whether or not they have an account. This Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy sociocrush.com/privacy and Terms of Service sociocrush.com/terms. It also serves as our data deletion instructions for the social-media platforms we integrate with, including Meta (Facebook, Instagram and Threads) and Google (YouTube and Google Business Profile).

2. Who we are

Sociocrush is operated by Sociocrush Technologies, registered in India under Udyam Registration No.UDYAM-MH-26-1232140 with its registered office at 409, Parvati Park Society, Panmala, Sinhagad Road, Pune 411030, Maharashtra, India ("Sociocrush", "we", "us" or "our"). For your account, billing, security and similar data, we decide how your data is used. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 that makes us a "Data Fiduciary"; under the EU and UK GDPR it makes us a "controller". For content and data that a business or agency places in its Workspace, including data about its clients, we act on that business's behalf as a "Data Processor" or "processor", as explained in section 9.

3. Ways to delete your data

You can delete your entire account yourself from Settings >Help and Support > Delete my account, disconnect any social-media account at any time from Calendar > Connected Accounts > More Icon > Delete, delete individual posts, drafts and media files inside the Service, ask us by email to delete your account or specific data (section 8), and revoke Sociocrush's access directly in the calendar of each social-media platform (section 6). You do not need to give a reason for a deletion request, and we do not charge for one unless it is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

4. Deleting your Sociocrush account

To delete your account, go to Settings >Help and Support > Delete my account and type the confirmation phrase shown. Your sign-in access ends immediately. Account deletion is permanent, and a deleted account cannot be restored. Within 30 days of deletion we permanently delete or irreversibly anonymise the following, subject only to the retention described in section 10:

  • your account and profile information;
  • your Workspace memberships;
  • for every Workspace you own: its brands, business profile, Brand Brain, website-analysis data, drafts, scheduled posts, content calendars, uploaded media, AI prompts and generated content, approval records, connected social-media accounts and their access tokens, analytics and invitations.

Deleting your account cancels any active subscription so that no further payments are taken. Fees already paid are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy sociocrush.com/refund-policy, and any unused AI credits, including top-up and referral credits, are forfeited on deletion and have no cash value. If you own a Workspace that other people use, transfer ownership to another member before deleting your account; otherwise the Workspace and its content will be deleted for everyone. Content you created in a Workspace owned by someone else stays with that Workspace, because it belongs to that Workspace's owner/Admin, but your personal account data is deleted. Before deleting your account, download any content you want to keep. Cancelling a subscription is different from deleting an account: cancelling stops future renewals but does not delete your account or data.

5. Disconnecting a social-media account

You can disconnect a social-media account at any time without deleting your Sociocrush account. When you disconnect, we immediately delete the stored access and refresh tokens for that account, stop all scheduled posts to it, and, where the platform allows, ask the platform to revoke our access. Within 30 days we also delete the other data we obtained through that connection, such as profile details, page or channel information, analytics, comments and messages. Records we must keep under section 10 are the only exception. Posts already published on the platform are not removed by disconnecting, because they are held by the platform and remain subject to its own controls. Delete them on the platform if you want them removed. Scheduled actions that had already started before you disconnected may still complete.

6. Platform-specific instructions

For Facebook, Instagram and Threads, you can remove Sociocrush's access in the "Apps and Websites" (or "Business Integrations") section of your account settings on that platform. You can ask us to delete the data we received from Meta by disconnecting the account in Sociocrush, or by emailing support@sociocrush.com with the subject "Meta Data Deletion Request" and the account or page name concerned. We will confirm completion to you. For YouTube and Google Business Profile, you can revoke Sociocrush's access at any time from Google's security settings at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Sociocrush uses YouTube API Services, and Google's processing of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. We delete YouTube data held about you within 7 days of your request, and in any event we refresh or delete stored YouTube data at least every 30 days, as YouTube's developer policies require. For LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, Telegram and Discord, you can remove Sociocrush's access in that platform's settings for connected or authorised apps (for Telegram and Discord, by removing the Sociocrush bot or integration from your channel or server). Revoking access on the platform stops our access, but to be sure that data already held by Sociocrush is deleted, also disconnect the account in Sociocrush or send us a request under section 8. Deleting data from Sociocrush does not delete data that a platform holds itself; to delete that, follow the platform's own deletion process.

7. Deleting specific content and data

You can delete drafts, scheduled posts, media files and other content from within the Service at any time. Deleted media is removed from your library immediately and permanently deleted from our storage 30 days later. You can delete or regenerate the analysis of your website used for Brand Brain from Setting > Brand Brain > Delete/Regeneration. You may also ask us by email to delete particular categories of data, such as a connected account's data, website-analysis data, uploaded files, AI prompts and generated content, or particular profile information, without deleting your whole account. If any part of such a request cannot be met, we will tell you which part and why. When you upload an image, the original file is stored as uploaded, so deleting the media item is how you remove any metadata, such as location, contained in that original.

8. Requesting deletion by email

You can send a deletion request to support@sociocrush.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request". Send it from the email address registered to your account, or include that address, together with the Workspace or connected account concerned (if relevant) and a clear description of what you want deleted. To protect you against unauthorised deletion, we may ask for reasonable additional information to verify your identity, and we will use that information only for verification. You may make a request through an authorised agent, or, in India, through a person you have nominated to exercise your rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity. In either case, we may ask for written proof of their authority and may confirm the request with you directly.

9. Workspace, team and client data

Sociocrush is a collaborative platform, and much of the data in a Workspace belongs to the Workspace rather than to any one member. This includes brand information, content, approval records, team activity and client information. The Workspace owner and authorised administrators control that data and can delete it. Where a business or agency uses Sociocrush to manage its own brands or its clients' brands, it is responsible for that data, and we process it on its instructions. If you want data deleted that a business holds about you in its Workspace, such as information about you as one of its clients or customers, please contact that business first. If you contact us instead, we will forward your request to the Workspace owner and help it respond, as our Data Processing Agreement with business customers provides sociocrush.com/data-processing-addendum. When a Workspace owner deletes their account, the Workspace is handled as described in section 4.

10. Data we may keep and why

We keep personal data after a deletion request only where the law requires it or a legitimate need applies, and only the minimum necessary, for no longer than necessary.

  • Billing, invoice, payment and tax records: kept for 8 years from the end of the financial year to which they relate, as Indian tax law requires.
  • Security, access and activity logs: kept for 1 year, including the minimum periods required by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.
  • Disputes and legal claims: information needed to resolve a dispute, enforce our Terms, or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, kept until the matter is closed.
  • Fraud and abuse: information needed to prevent fraud, abuse or repeat abuse of the Service, including referral-programme fraud.
  • Legal holds: information we must keep under a valid legal order or regulatory requirement.
  • Opt-outs: a minimal record of your opt-out, so that we continue to respect it.

We may also keep information that has been aggregated or anonymised so that it can no longer identify you, because it is no longer personal data. Kept data is protected by the same security measures as active data, is used only for the purpose for which it was kept, and is deleted when that purpose ends.

11. Backups

Deleted data can remain in our encrypted database backups for up to 7 days until those backups are automatically overwritten. Backups are not used for normal operations, and we do not restore deleted personal data from them except to recover from a security incident or system failure. If a restore is ever needed, we re-apply deletions that were made after the backup was taken.

12. Service providers and AI providers

We use service providers for hosting, database and file storage, authentication, payments, AI features and communications. They are listed in Annex A of our Privacy Policy. When we delete your data, we delete it from the systems these providers run for us and, where they hold separate copies, we instruct them to delete those copies, subject to their own legal retention obligations. Our authentication provider, Clerk, deletes your sign-in account when you delete your Sociocrush account. Content sent to OpenAI for AI features may be kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring under its API terms, after which it is deleted, and it is not used to train OpenAI's models. Razorpay keeps payment records under its own legal obligations as a regulated payment provider, and its privacy policy https://razorpay.com/privacy-policy/ governs those records. Where we have disclosed your data to other recipients, we will tell them about your deletion request where the law requires it, unless that proves impossible or involves disproportionate effort.

13. How long deletion takes

We acknowledge deletion requests within 7 days and complete them within 30 days of verifying your request. YouTube data is deleted within 7 days of your request. Where applicable law sets a different deadline, we follow it - India: our Grievance Officer resolves grievances within one month of receipt, and once the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 take effect, we respond to requests within the period they set, which is no more than 90 days. EEA and UK: we respond within one month. We may extend this by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests, and if we do, we will tell you within the first month and explain why.

14. Confirmation, refusals and unauthorised requests

When we have completed your request, we will confirm it using the contact details you gave us. If we keep any data, we will tell you which categories we kept and why, unless the law prevents us from doing so. We may refuse or delay a request where we reasonably believe it is fraudulent or made by someone without authority, where we cannot verify your identity after reasonable steps, where deletion would harm another person's rights, or where the law requires us to keep the data. In each case we will explain our reasons and tell you how to challenge our decision.

15. If you are not satisfied

If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, contact our Grievance Officer (section 19).

  • India: Once the relevant provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 are in force, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India after first using our grievance process.
  • European Economic Area: you may complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work or where the issue arose.
  • United Kingdom: you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We ask UK residents to raise complaints with us first, and we acknowledge complaints within 30 days.

16. Requests from people without a Sociocrush account

If your personal data is in Sociocrush without your having an account, you can ask us to delete it. This could happen, for example, because you appear in content a customer uploaded, because you were invited to a Workspace, or because your contact details appear on a website a customer asked us to analyse. Where the data belongs to a customer's Workspace, we will handle your request as described in section 9. Where we hold the data on our own account, such as a pending invitation, we will delete it as described in this Policy.

17. Children

Sociocrush is intended only for people aged 18 or over. If we learn that we hold personal data of a child under 18, we will delete it and close the related account. A parent or lawful guardian who believes a child has used Sociocrush can contact support@sociocrush.com.

18. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our providers or the law. We will change the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we will notify you by email or within the Service at least 15 days before they take effect, where practicable.
